The Challenge
KentTech Solutions, a mid-market B2B electronics distributor based in Canterbury, was running on a decade-old Magento 1 installation. The platform suffered from sub-2-second page loads, a 47% cart abandonment rate, and had failed two consecutive PCI DSS compliance scans. Their legacy infrastructure could not handle peak seasonal traffic without significant downtime.

Discovered legacy dependencies and mapped user flows through analytics audit and stakeholder interviews.

Architected a headless Next.js storefront with a composable backend using Shopify Hydrogen, prioritising incremental migration over a risky big-bang cutover.

Implemented WAF rulesets, CSP headers, automated vulnerability scanning via GitHub Actions, and a zero-trust admin access policy.

Ran parallel load-tests (k6) against the old and new platforms, tuning Edge caching and database connection pooling.

The Solution
We delivered a fully headless commerce platform on Next.js with Shopify as the commerce engine. The front end was entirely rebuilt with a focus on conversion-rate-optimised product pages, a streamlined checkout flow, and real-time inventory display. On the security side, we deployed a cloud WAF (Cloudflare), enforced Content Security Policy headers, introduced automated dependency scanning, and achieved full PCI DSS v4.0 compliance. The migration was completed in 14 weeks with zero downtime.
